Cooking with Daddy

14 Nov

In our house, Mummy does 99.9% of the cooking and 100% of the cooking with Thomas. I think it’s important for children to see both their parents in different roles. It’s well known that children learn from observation, so in my opinion, if children don’t see Dad’s in the kitchen then it sends a message that cooking is something that only Mummy does.

Obviously, in our house, I am the one who is at home and so therefore has the time to prepare the meals but it doesn’t hurt for Dad’s to do a little bit of cooking with the kids every now and again. It’s a great bonding experience and very rewarding for everyone (Mum might even get to put her feet up for a few minutes!).

It doesn’t have to be complicated. We had these new Donna Hay packet mixes that we wanted to try and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. All that was required was a bit of mixing and measuring and voile! Yummy chocolate brownies. Win-win!

So come on Dads… Get in the kitchen and create some memories! At the very least, you might end up with something yummy to eat :-).
